‘Checking In’ During Troubled Times

October 12, 2023

A painful truth of life is that we live in a world marked by chaos, tragedy and oppression.

But these days it seems as though we’re confronting this reality at an accelerated clip.

The latest horror is now playing out in the Middle East, where we are exposed to a nonstop reel of graphic images and heartbreaking stories. Many of us have a direct connection to this conflict through our own experiences or through our family histories.

It’s a lot to absorb — and it can be particularly challenging for those of us who work in PR, communications, or philanthropy roles.

There is no simple way to process all of this.

However, one of our consulting partners, Carrie Fox of Mission Partners, shared some poignant and timely advice on the importance of checking in with coworkers, friends and others to demonstrate much-needed compassion and solidarity in such troubling times.

We found it helpful. We hope you do as well.
