Virtual Fundraising Campaign

Client: Stamford Hospital Foundation

The Challenge

Stamford Hospital Foundation brings together supporters each June for the Hope in Motion Walk & Run, which raises money to provide meals, rides, and financial support to patients undergoing treatment at the Bennett Cancer Center.

When Covid-19 hit, Stamford needed to pivot to a virtual version of the event -- and communicate quickly and clearly with its supporters.

Our Approach

Turn Two used its understanding of peer-to-peer fundraising, crisis communications expertise, and digital marketing savvy to help Stamford rethink its event and embark on an aggressive outreach campaign. Key activities included:

  • Working with Stamford’s executive leadership and fundraising team to develop a strategy for hosting a virtual event;

  • Organizing and hosting a webinar that introduced the new concept to key supporters, sponsors, and team captains;

  • Creating and executing on an email marketing campaign that introduced the new concept and inspired supporters to take part and raise money for the campaign;

  • Planning and executing a virtual kickoff ceremony;

  • Developing and executing a plan to thank fundraisers, donors, and sponsors.

Results

  • The 2020 Virtual Hope in Motion Walk & Run raised more than $466,000 -- exceeding Stamford’s $450,000 goal and ensuring that cancer patients continued to receive critical support as they faced treatment during the Covid-19 pandemic.
